Celebrating Mothers Day 2024

Mothers Day celebration ideas for every stage: pregnancy, newborn & beyond

As Mother’s Day grows closer I wanted to speak to the art and ritual of celebrating Mothers Day at every stage. From blossoming bellies to sweet sleeping faces, there’s so much heart and soul to be celebrated at every stage of growing and loving your family. So I hope these ideas inspire you to capture yourself in the frame and enjoy your little ones on Mother’s Day and everyday

Eternalising your pregnancy with SETT+MAXE

A little piece of art and a forever memory of the life growing inside of you, SETT+MAXE offers a beautiful way of celebrating Mothers Day when pregnant. The studio is nestled in Maia Mothers Collective in Ascot, Brisbane, where artist and mother Libby turns pregnancy photos into sculptural artwork of you and your baby bump. A perfect, tangible gift for expecting mamas or to yourself – you can choose between a painted or bronze-casted sculpture piece. Libby has oh so kindly offered $50.00 off your sculpture when you use code ‘JAYDE50’.

Slow Mothers Day celebrations with a newborn

I love the idea of spending a quiet morning enjoying breakfast in bed, soaking up all the newborn snuggles and honouring our time to rest and connect. Most mamas really appreciate documenting these tender moments through newborn photography and it is a beautiful way to ensure no tiny detail goes forgotten. From Fresh 48 sessions through to baby’s three month celebration, I can visit you and your family at home to create these treasured memories or you can pop into my cosy studio.

Other slow and memory-centred ways for celebrating Mothers Day with a newborn are dawn or dusk family strolls. Or, leave little hints for a polaroid camera gift so you can play around with capturing all the natural family moments from any location. These tiny unposed squares become a timeless and nostalgic way to look back on Mothers Day memories.

Beyond babies; Making every day a celebration

As we wade out of the bleary-eyed baby stage and begin to find our footing as mothers, it’s normal to seek out community. Making connections with fellow mamas can help enrich all the family moments – big and small. Whether it’s gathering for impromptu Sunday picnics full of sticky fingers and belly laughs or finding new friendships through events curated with mums in mind (like my Mothers Day Minis), celebrating Mothers Day everyday is possible when we’re surrounded by support.

Choosing experience or adventure-based activities such as local bike rides, fruit picking at an orchard or road trips to the beach makes for a beautiful backdrop to snap memories with your little ones. Be sure to delegate your partner (or a family member) as the designated photo-taker so you go home with a camera roll full of motherhood moments.

Mothers Day Minis – Core memories & new connections

Set amongst a charming little farm stay not too far from Brisbane, are my Mothers Day Minis. Taking place in mid April, these sessions are a heartfelt way to capture your motherhood journey at any stage and offer the opportunity to make connections with fellow mamas and their little ones.

How will you be spending Mothers Day?

Aside from spending the day planning outings around nap times, wiping crumb-adorned faces and making new core memories, I’d be delighted to hear how you plan to spend your Mothers Day this year.
