Where the magic happens

All mini sessions have a set location and theme and you can find all the information you need for now in your booking confirmation email. The exact address and any other details you need about parking and the location itself will be emailed to you in the week leading up to your mini session.

Because mini sessions are booked back to back, it's really important to be running early. Aim to arrive 15 minutes before your session time to allow time for parking, getting little ones changed and changing into a client wardrobe piece if you've borrowed one.

If you're late and miss your session we will do our best to fit you in later if there is still enough light to work with.

Please don't stress if there's any mishaps on the way, simply call or message myself or my assistant (you'll find our phone numbers in your final session reminder email) and we'll do our best to help you.

Outfits can make or break the look and feel of your photos so it's important we get them right. You will find some information on selecting your own outfits in the Preparing for your Session Guide in the next section and a link to my Client Wardrobe Guide below. Whether you choose to wear your own outfits or borrow something from my Client Wardrobe I highly recommend sending through your options to me for my input and suggestions.

Please let me know at least one week before your session if you would like to borrow a dress from my client wardrobe - it's first in best dressed (hehe).

If you'd like to purchase or rent your outfits I've created a list of my go-to shops for mums, children and babies for you. I've also included a list of shops to purchase beautiful, comfy underwear from - perfect for under sheer dresses, robes or for skin to skin photos. The best option for underwear is a nude colour.

When it comes to your other half, I think it's important that he feels like himself. Yes, sometimes (ok, most of the time) he needs your help picking things out but involve him in the process, make sure he's comfortable and excited about what he's wearing. Don't default to a button up shirt - here's some pointers to get you on track:

  • Keep it neutral - colours like beige, rust, black, olive, khaki, brown etc.
  • Keep it casual - while we sometimes reach for the button up collared shirt for the guys I often feel that unless this is true to their personality they can look over dressed and a little too business-y or corporate which clashes with the soft, intimate family moments we are creating and capturing. I recommend either a plain tee or henley shirt paired with some jeans or chinos. A button up linen shirt can also look really great layered over a tee with sleeves rolled and buttons open.
  • Most importantly, keep it authentic - we want him to feel comfy and himself so go with what he feels best in. If he often wears plain and simple, keep it plain and simple. If he likes to include a bit of pattern then go ahead and include some pattern (it's best to keep away from bold logos and images but simple stripes, florals or geometrics can look great).

When it comes to hair and makeup I recommend doing what you feel most comfortable with. If you feel best keeping things simple then go with that or if you love having your hair and makeup done professionally then opt for that.

Either way keep things subtle and natural. Hair down with simple waves always looks lovely.

For professional hair and makeup I personally recommend Studio May B for hair and makeup.

So that we are able to create timeless and meaningful photos I recommend including jewellery pieces that are sentimental. Think some simple earrings, a special necklace and/or a bracelete or two. If you don't have anything that's really sentimental then it's ok to go without.

My go-to advice for watches is that unless they are especially sentimental then leave them off, watch faces can distract from the faces and details of the people.

How long are mini sessions?

Short and sweet — your session will be 15 or 25 minutes depending on the event you booked (please see you booking confirmation for this information), perfect for keeping little ones engaged while still capturing plenty of magic.

What should we wear?

Neutral tones, soft textures and comfortable outfits work beautifully in for my mini session settings.

What if I'm running late for my mini session?

Firstly, try your best not to stress and next give me a call on 0403 891 913 (or if you've been given my assistants number in your final session reminder email, please use that). Once we know exactly what the situation is we can try our best to swap with another family or have you wait until the end to see if we can fit you in then. For full details on the options available if you're running late please read your contract.

What if it’s raining for outdoor mini sessions?

If it looks like it’s going to rain heavily during a scheduled outdoor session, we will discuss changing locations to somewhere undercover or reschedule to a new date if possible. If it is just cloudy or there are light showers we will go ahead. Cloudy conditions are actually perfect for photos because the light is soft and flattering. Some of my most beautiful photos are from rainy day sessions.

When will I receive my gallery?

Around 3 weeks after your mini session takes place. This is also when you will select any package upgrades and order your prints.

Can I print my photos?

Of course, I'd love for you to print your favourite photos! You can easily order photos prints through your online gallery. Now is a great time to browse my Art for your Home Guide.

What if I have to cancel or move my booking?

Life is complicated and the unexpected is to be expected. The session fee is non refundable as this helps to protect my business due to turning away all other bookings for your session time. For full details on cancellation options please read through your contract.

I'd prefer that my images are not shared on social media

That is 100% ok and your decision. I will absolutely not share your images if you prefer to keep them private. Please let me know by email so I can update your contract before your session.
